General Hospital spoilers report that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was just being the good guy with a heart of gold that we all know he is when he advocated on Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) behalf to both Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and his longtime friend and attorney, Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennessy).
Jason didn’t care what kind of attention it brought him as he defended Ava and insisted she was innocent in all of this. It had been a while since Ava had any genuine man in her corner. She thought FBI Special Agent John Jagger Kates (Adam Harrington) was going to be different, but clearly, she fell for the wrong guy and his act once again.
Ava has always known Jason to be a decent dude, even if he’s attached to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). But will he stay that way if he finds reason to attach himself to Ava? It’s not unusual for Ava to fall for any guy who lends her a helping hand or merely says he believes her.
In this case, Jason has done it all. When he happened upon Ava being held at gunpoint by Agent Bowles, he did what he would do in any situation involving anyone: he took down the bad guy and saved an innocent victim. In this specific set of circumstances, that’s what Ava was.
But that doesn’t mean Jason has forgotten what she’s been like over the years or the other things she’s done, namely contributing to Morgan Corinthos’ (Bryan Craig) untimely death by swapping his bipolar disorder meds with placebos. That might make Ava hesitant to approach Jason, but it won’t stop her from wanting to.
Jason is loyal to Sonny and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), and there’s no doubt about that. But are they both as loyal to him in return? Sonny cut Jason off entirely when he came back from the grave, alerting Sonny to his unacknowledged status and signaling that he didn’t loop him in on whatever he was doing for the last two years.
Still, as Sonny found his balance with proper medication, he found his way back to this friendship and alliance with Jason. Will a romance with Ava get in the way of that? Will it shatter Jason’s devotion to Carly? We find that hard to believe, but it wouldn’t be the first time he hooked up with someone she didn’t approve of.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) may not like the idea of Jason finding himself in Ava’s so-called bad company, but they don’t get to dictate how he spends his time or who he spends it with. That won’t stop either of them from trying, though.
Sonny isn’t as angry with Ava right now as he was before, but the little matter of how his granddaughter died is still up for debate. As far as he knows, Ava could be to blame. At the same time, Sonny and Carly are cruising for a reunion as they pretend to be pseudo back together to provide Sonny with an alibi during Kates’ murder.
So as long as Carly is off the market, can she really get mad at Jason for sowing his wild oats a bit?
