The Saddest Day for General Hospital :Michael Corinthos Tearful Reveal Will Leave You Emotional 😭

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that Michael Corinthos exited soap opera storylines in a very explosive way. After suffering third-degree burns in late January, he was sent off to a recovery clinic in Germany. This was an excellent way to open a door for his return, but how soon can fans expect to see Michael back in Port Charles? And will Chad Duell reprise the role, or will there be a recast? Here’s what we know so far.

There were a lot of hints thrown around about Michael’s return during the Monday, February 10 episode. First off, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) revealed that her son was responding very well to the treatment in Germany. This seems to suggest that it’s only a matter of time before Michael feels better and is ready to head home.

As he picked the innovative recovery center versus the one close to home, his chances of returning to town sooner rather than later seem far more plausible. This was the reasoning behind the facility he chose.

Not to mention, during Monday’s show, Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) had a meeting with Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) about the child custody case where Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was also present. Martin wondered how they should proceed with the couple’s divorce petition—something Michael had launched before his accident. Nina suggested that rather than strike back right away, it might be best to wait until Michael recovers. This was likely in hopes that she could keep Willow married to Michael and away from Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) a little longer.

It feels as if everyone is under the impression that Michael will make a full recovery, and it won’t be too long until he’s back in Port Charles. However, this is the land of soaps, where anything is possible. Michael could fully recover, head home, and then land in another accident on his way from Germany, exiting storylines for good.

Still, it seems as if Michael will make a comeback fairly soon—perhaps just in time for May sweeps. Right now, the character is integral to storylines, and a dramatic return where he swoops back in to cause chaos in both Willow and Drew’s romance seems plausible. Not to mention how sticky things could get with Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson), considering he is the father of her baby.

But will Michael return as a recast, or will Duell come back? That is entirely up to the actor. As per some interviews he’s done, it seems as if Duell needed a break from work to focus on himself. However, how long of a break that will be remains to be seen.
