“Tearful Announcement: Sam McCall Reveals Heartbreaking News About General Hospital! 😔😥 GH OFFICIAL
General Hospital spoilers teased that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) said goodbye to her friends and family this week, and although she didn’t know it, this was most likely a much more permanent goodbye than Sam intended.
As viewers know, Sam has agreed to be a liver donor for the ailing Lulu Spencer (played by Emme Rylan). Although doctors have warned Lulu’s family that Lulu most likely won’t survive the surgery, Sam has chosen to go through with her donation. She checked into General Hospital for what would likely be the last time ever.
Both Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) have a child with Sam, so she gathered Jason and Drew together at the Quartermaine mansion and asked if the kids could stay there while she recovered. She also asked both men to spend as much time with the kids as they could and to try to get along while doing so. Both Jason and Drew agreed.
Then, it was time for Sam to check into the hospital, as the surgery would be the following day. Once she was checked in, she thanked Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) for taking such good care of her.
From there, Sam’s friends and family showed up to wish her well and thank her for her noble sacrifice. From Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), Sam became quite emotional, as did everyone around her.
There’s a very good reason for that—this wasn’t just the characters saying goodbye to each other, but also Monaco’s fellow actors doing the same. Because, as we know, Sam isn’t going to leave the hospital alive.
Much has been said over the last few weeks about the fact that TPTB decided to let Monaco go, and as a result, the character of Sam was set to die. We are seeing that play out now. Even knowing that her days are numbered, Monaco has given an amazing performance. While Sam has no idea what her fate is, Monaco and her fellow actors do, and they are putting everything into their final scenes. It’s been an incredibly sad week.
Watching Sam being wheeled into surgery felt like the end of an era.
Are you sad to see Sam go? What exactly will be the cause of Sam’s death? Which goodbye scene hit you the hardest?
