Richard Simmons’ Family Makes Strong Statement About Biopic
After the passing of beloved fitness guru, Richard Simmons, fans have wondered if there will be a biopic about his touching life. While Pauly Shore has been quick to say he is moving forward with the proposed biopic, Richard’s family is making a strong statement in response.
Pauly Shore Wants To Preserve The Beauty Of Richard Simmons’ Life
Although the passionate fitness guru, Richard Simmons, has sadly passed away, his enthusiasm lives on forever. Famously, known for his popular Sweatin’ to the Oldies videos, he made a huge difference in many people’s lives. As a tribute to a beautiful soul, lookalike comedian, Pauly Shore was proposing a biopic before Richard’s death. However, it was not well received by the exuberant fitness leader. After hearing about the idea, Richard took to Facebook to let fans know he had not given permission for the project. However, after his passing, Pauly asserts he isn’t sure the post was made by Richard. Therefore, he intends to move forward with the passion project of telling the story of the influential man’s life. Likewise, he lets fans know that the only major hurdle is finding the proper financing for the movie. After this, Richard’s family is now addressing the intentions.
Richard Simmons’ Family Makes Strong Statement About Biopic
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pauly Shore shows doubt that Richard Simmons was sending out the resistant messages. He says, “I know he wanted me to do it,” referring to the biopic. “I don’t even know if that was him tweeting the whole time. I don’t know who that was.”
However, as a follow-up, a message was sent on Facebook about the movie. On Richard’s family’s behalf, it states: “From Richard’s staff: Pauly Shore has recently made comments to Entertainment Tonight concerning his attempts to proceed with an unauthorized movie about Richard. You’ve seen here on Richard’s account what he had to say about the biopic.”
Then, the poster quotes Richard’s brother, “We’d also like to share the following statement from Richard’s brother, Lenny. ‘Dicky absolutely wrote his own posts. He worked on them a week in advance, going over and over them to get the right message. He would often read them to Cathy and I beforehand. What he has NOT done was to text, email or call Pauly with anything; not even to wish him ‘Good Luck’ as Pauly has stated many times.’”
Fans Respond
After Richard Simmons’ staff made the post, fans were quick to respond in the comments.
- “I hope there’s an authorized story told at some point.”
- “I know he was authentic because he often responded to us and it was his voice and enthusiasm in the responses.”
- “While I would absolutely adore a film about Richard’s life and legacy, I cannot support anything that is against his wishes.”
- “In the last week of his life, Richard posted about working on his own autobiography. It would be great if the family could work on something to put out ‘his’ story. I would support that.”
- “I really don’t believe anything that comes out of this page. Lenny has been controlling everything for YEARS. He probably doesn’t like that he’s not making money so that’s why he’s mad.”
- “I hope that Richard’s proposed bio-musical becomes reality and hits Broadway. Also, Richard may have been 76, but he had enough energy and warmth to last ten lifetimes. He lived to be 760.”
