MINUTES AGO! It’s Over! General Hospital Scott Baldwin Drops Breaking News! It will shock you!
Today, we’re diving into General Hospital’s Ken Shriner, who plays the beloved Scott Baldwin. Shriner has been a part of soap operas for decades and has certainly witnessed his share of disappearing characters that return just as fast as they leave. Recently, Shriner discussed how long-term characters are being treated in the industry. He also shared insights into his latest soap scenes.
Shriner has been playing Scott Baldwin on and off since 1977. Scott’s presence has been unpredictable, with long stretches on-screen followed by sudden exits, only to return later. Notably, Scott was also a character on Port Charles, a spin-off of General Hospital. Several other GH characters made appearances on Port Charles before the spin-off was canceled.
Scott was last seen in August when he helped a pharmacist—who had tampered with Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bipolar medications—hide out from Sonny. Of course, Scott was working with his former son-in-law, Jagger Cates (played by Adam J. Harrington), who planned to arrest the pharmacist and protect him from Sonny’s wrath.
Scott eventually had a confrontation with Jason Morgan when he tried to move the pharmacist to Windermere. However, Scott ran off, and he hasn’t been seen since. His sudden disappearance has left fans wondering: How long will it be before Scott returns? One fan even commented, “The sooner Scott returns, the better!”
On September 30, Baldwin posted:
“When I came on General Hospital in 1977, the actors that were there and kept the show on air for 14 years, I held in the highest esteem. Now, the long-running characters have no respect. But times have changed.”
Shriner’s post had fans reminiscing about scenes from years ago. He also shared a photo of his on-screen parents, Peter Hansen and Susan Brown. Shriner followed up with another post on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“Two of the many actors that made it possible for me to have a 47-year run on General Hospital and seven other soaps. Time to do the other things I missed out on while trying to keep Scotty relevant.”
Shriner later posted a lighthearted message:
“Well, Scotty did deliver his last two lines about glazed donuts, so if that’s the end of General Hospital, I did it my way, like Sinatra.”
He was referring to his final lines on the show:
“I’ll tell you what—I’ll get us some glazed donuts and coffee. So, sit tight, I’ll be back.”
Of course, he didn’t mean coming back just for the pharmacist!
