Lulu Spencer’s Life Hangs In The Balance
Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jason (Steve Burton) headed overseas recently to find Lucky Spencer and bring him home. The storyline ushers in Jonathan Jackson’s return to the role he originated in 1993.
Other actors have played the role over the years, but fans hold a special place for Jonathan Jackson. He revealed that working with his former co-stars was a big reason he made the decision to return to the soap. The actor was especially looking forward to reuniting with his TV mom, Genie Francis (Laura.)
When Lucky eventually does make his way back to Port Charles, his sister will look a lot different than he last remembered. All My Children vet Alexa Havins takes over the role last played by Emme Rylan. Lulu Spencer has been in a coma for the last four years. Doctors recently informed her family that she will die if she doesn’t get a liver transplant soon.
GH Star Jonathan Jackson Talks Lucky’s Connection To Lulu
Anna and Jason find themselves playing a dangerous game trying to free Lucky from his captors. Jonathan Jackson spoke to Soap Opera Digest about the exciting rescue storyline. He said that seeing Jason and Anna gives Lucky hope of escaping.
He said that Lucky finding out about Lulu’s situation “adds another layer to his desire to escape immediately.” He continued, “I think it’s just a visceral reaction of love for his sister and wanting to do everything he can to get back [to Port Charles] and hopefully save her.”
Jonathan Jackson said that his family being in danger was a “wake-up call” to Lucky. “He’s been struggling, probably on a subconscious level, for a long time, but it’s starting to kind of rise to the surface, like when he had that dream of Elizabeth being in the jail with him. He’s struggling with that sense of shame and guilt around leaving his family.”

The actor added that Jason and Lucky are in “survival mode” amid the dangerous rescue operation. Fans will have to tune in to see if Lucky makes it back to Port Charles in time to save Lulu. He might not have. Actress Kelly Monaco is leaving the soap and viewers are convinced Sam McCall will die so Lulu can live.
