Things haven’t been going so well for Cody on General Hospital. Recently, his actor, Josh Kelly has talked about Cody’s story on the soap. Notably, he even teased a few possible love-interests for the character.
Josh Kelly Noted That Cody Is Currently Being Tempted By Old Ways
Kelly has played Cody Bell on General Hospital since 2022. Beforehand, he was known for playing Cutter Wentworth on One Life to Live throughout the early 2010s.
On the soap, Cody is the son of Mac Scorpio and Dominique Baldwin. He’s had a few notable romances with various characters on the soap, from the late Britt Westbourne to Sasha Gilmore, who turned out to be his cousin.
As noted by Soap Opera Digest, things haven’t been going so well for Cody on the soap. An ill-placed bet has left him in debt to Selina Wu and his actions at Charlie’s reopening saw him end up at the PCPD. However, Kelly himself recently spoke out about the character.
Kelly noted that Cody is going through a complicated time. As he mused, “Cody has only recently — and very briefly — been a good guy, and he was doing it for a girl [Sasha]. And he lost the girl, so we’ll see…. He’s definitely reverting a little bit back to his old ways.”
The actor was asked about the twist that Sasha being his character’s cousin. He noted that it was “probably a pretty good thing” that the two never made love with each other.
The General Hospital Actor Teased He Would Love ‘An Awkward Love Triangle’
Kelly continued, “Although, I think it would have been good drama if we had, because it’s not like they would have been doing it intentionally, but then it would have [led to] more awkwardness and higher stakes for the story. But he was definitely in love with her.” That said, he bemoaned that the twist means he would have less scenes with Sofia Mattsson.
However, a new love can always be right around the corner and this doubly true for soap operas. Fans have been wondering if another character on the soap will end up Cody’s love-interest. As Kelly noted, “Oh, I’d love for there to be an awkward love triangle!”
Fans have been speculating that something could have sparked between Cody and Lulu after he gave her a ride without recognizing her. As Kelly noted, “Alexa [Havins, Lulu] is great. Chloe [Lanier, his real-life girlfriend, who played Nelle] and I hung out with her and her husband [Justin Bruening, ex-Jamie, All My Children] at the GH Christmas party, and we all got along quite well. They’re very fun! They’re a great couple, and she’s great — she’s got great energy.”
The publication also noted Kelly’s interest in Cody being paired off with Jane Elliot’s Tracy. He noted, “Kelly: I love it, but I want more! He definitely loves her, she loves him. He’s a rascal — a rascal that reminds her of Luke. Jane wants my character to fleece her, and I don’t. I don’t want him to, actually — I want everyone to think he’s trying to fleece her and con her, but he’s actually just like, ‘No, we know exactly what this is and we just like each other more than we like you guys! Plus, I’m pretty sure she’s not my cousin [laughs].’”
