General Hospital

General Hospital’s Lulu Is In for a Doozy of a Rude Awakening

General Hospital has all the pieces in place to finally wake up Lulu. But she might wish that she had stayed in the coma into which she slipped after the explosion at the Floating Rib in 2020.

What Happened to Lulu?

If you’ll recall, at the time, Lulu’s boyfriend Hot Dustin had just died of injuries sustained in that same blast. As sad as that may have been, she was on the verge of telling former husband Dante that she still loved him before she herself collapsed.

What’s Happened Since?

Now, of course, Dante has moved all the way on and is in a committed relationship with Sam. So if Lulu regains consciousness harboring hopes of picking up where she left off… eesh! She’s in for quite the heartbreak.

What’s more, Lulu’s daughter Charlotte has just been spirited away by Valentin, who’s on the lam for his involvement with Pikeman. In other words, not only is Lulu’s true love on the off-limits list, one of her kids is MIA!

When Will Lulu Wake Up?

Ever since General Hospital put Lulu in her coma, it has served up reminders that she is still out there — occasionally even allowing her loved ones to visit (with the actress’ face never seen). With her brother Lucky finally returning to Port Charles after an absence of almost a decade, the stage would seem to be set for a family reunion.

Who Will Play Lulu?

Though when characters have checked on Lulu, we haven’t seen who’s been playing her, Emme Rylan said back in the summer of ’23 that so far as she knows, the role is still hers. “It is my understanding that when they choose to wake her up, they would be calling me,” Instagrammed the actress, who succeeded Julie Marie Berman in 2013. “That could always change. Who knows?”

Now and again, General Hospital, like all soaps, has chosen to change the direction and tone of a character. (See also: Jagger/John and the year of four Mollys). So the plum part could wind up going to someone new — perhaps Alexa Havins (Babe, All My Children) or Bree Williamson (the One Life to Live vet who was briefly Claudette on General Hospital).
