General Hospital Spoilers | 1 HOUR AGO: Marcus Coloma goes into cardiac arrest, sad news confirmed
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Marcus Coloma (Nicholas Cassadine) suddenly left the ABC soap. It turns out that the actor had a serious heart condition, and the realization came around the same time that he suddenly left his longtime soap home. Keep reading and learn what the actor had to say about it.
Hospital Video on Instagram
Coloma, 46, posted a video of himself in a hospital room on Instagram. The actor also posted some media of him attending physical therapy.
The GH alum opened up to his followers about his health journey, including the scary heart condition that was threatening to cut his life short.
Leaving General Hospital
The actor explained that several years ago, he had done 300 episodes of a certain TV show. Although he never had problems memorizing lines before, he suddenly started forgetting them.
He became extremely fatigued and had trouble determining what exactly was going on. That does sound terrifying!
Instead of the symptoms getting better, Marcus realized it was getting worse. Not only would he experience mental fog, but he would have to lie down by 1 or 2 pm.
Physical Therapist Hero
The actor went to a physical therapist, who he now credits with saving his life. At the visit, the PT noticed that the actorâs heart was not beating as it should.
Colomaâs heart was berating at a resting rate of 110. Thatâs pretty high and the actor said that the heart only has a certain number of beats in a lifetime. So, the condition was actually cutting Colomaâs lifespan.
Heart Birth Defect
After that visit, Coloma went to urgent care as well as several specialists. The actor discovered that he has a birth defect in his heart.
That was the bad news, but there is a silver lining. Surgery fixed the issue, and Coloma is going to be just fine.
âI was going through about two or three years where I thought I was dying, getting dementia, or maybe just getting old. I didnât know what was going on.â
New Health Journey
The experience has Coloma taking a serious look at his health, and heâs on a journey to get healthy all-around.
Now that Colomaâs heart defect is corrected, it has also given him a new perspective.
âI think the biggest gift out of all of this was an appreciation for life, and friends, and for people out there who helped me get back up.â
Marcusâ experience is a reminder for people not to just assume their symptoms are old age or âjust stress.â
