Jonathan Jackson has officially returned to General Hospital. The soap shared the news that Jonathan returned to Port Charles this week and fans can’t wait to see him reprise his role as Lucky Spencer. Keep reading to see what you can expect from Lucky’s return.
Jonathan Jackson Returns To Port Charles
General Hospital posted an update on social media, revealing Jonathan Jackson’s return. Monday, August 5 marked his official first day back on the soap opera.
“We are so very lucky (see what we did there) to have Jonathan Jackson back in the building,” GH shared on X. “And you won’t have to wait long to see what he has in store for Port Charles.”
Deadline was the first to break the news that Jonathan Jackson was making a comeback on the soap. The Emmy Award-winning actor will appear on the daytime drama series at the end of August.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of a major soap star since General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini hinted at the possibility earlier this month. At the Daytime Emmys, he said, “A former cast member is coming back and I think that the audience will go crazy for him.”
Multiple Anticipated General Hospital Returns Happening In August
Jonathan first appeared on GH as Lucky Spencer in 1993. He is the son of Luke and Laura Spencer (portrayed by Anthony Geary and Genie Francis). The actor appeared on the soap opera on and off until 2011. During his time on General Hospital, Jonathan Jackson was nominated for nine Emmy Awards, bringing five home.
He departed from the soap to star in ABC’s Nashville. He’s also appeared in several films, including Insomnia, Tuck Everlasting, The Deep End of the Ocean, On the Edge, and Venom.
In the meantime, Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan have been taking turns playing Lucky Spencer. Jonathan hasn’t been seen on General Hospital since 2015. His return to the show is expected to be a long one. Fans are thrilled to see him reunited with his on-screen mom Laura Spencer.
Jonathan Jackson isn’t the only actor returning to Port Charles. Bryan Craig will be reprising his role as Morgan Corinthos this month as well. In fact, viewers can expect to see Morgan and Sonny (Maurice Benard) interact on the soap this week.
Bryan recently opened up about what it was like to return to the set of General Hospital after more than a decade away. He said that, in many ways, it has remained unchanged. The soap actor also remarked that many of his costars seem like they haven’t aged a day. Overall, he’s thankful for the opportunity to return and be by Maurice Benard’s side once again as his on-screen son.
