General Hospital Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez Debuting On Primetime In FX Thriller, “Grotesquerie”
General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that it may be a hot minute since fans have seen Spencer Cassadine in the land of Port Charles; however, viewers will be able to see actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez in his latest project release, Ryan Murphy’s new FX thriller, Grotesquerie. The series is set to debut on Wednesday, September 25.
GH Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s Role In “Grotesquerie”
Chavez joins lead star, Niecy Nash-Betts in this 10-episode drama about a police detective who partners up with a nun to solve a series of heinous crimes. Nash-Betts is said police detective, while Chavez plays the role of Father Charlie.
The cast also includes Courtney B. Vance and Travis Kelce (you know … that NFL football player, who is better known to the world as Taylor Swift’s boyfriend!)
Chavez left GH in late 2023, with his final scene on the show taking place in January 2024. The reason behind leaving the daytime drama was to accept a lead role in Monsters, Season 2, another series produced by Murphy.
The second season focuses on the Menendez brothers and their crime of killing their parents, and Chavez is set to play the Lyle Menendez.
While it seemed as if Nicholas was set to return to the soap sometime in the summer, as fans believed Chavez was just going on hiatus to film Monsters, it was later revealed via social media that Nicholas would not return to the role of Spencer Cassadine, anytime soon.
GH Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez – Could He Ever Make A Port Charles’ Comeback?
That’s not to say Chavez will “never” return to GH or the world of soaps. However, with working on Monsters and now Grotesquerie it seems as if Hollywood and primetime have come calling.
Can anyone blame them? After all, Chavez is a Daytime Emmy winner, and thrilled fans from 2021 to 2024 playing the legacy role of Spencer Cassadine.
Still, GH viewers miss the magic between Spencer and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), and there’s no doubt that #TeamSprina is holding out hope for the day that Chavez makes a comeback to Port Charles. He may return, or Spencer could be recast, only time will tell.
