General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease that Gio Pal, or Giovan Maza, is in for a shocking wake-up call eventually, if not sooner. It’s almost a done deal that the show is heading in the direction of making him the grown-up baby of Brook Lynn and Dante.
Amanda Setton and Dominic Zamprogna have brought so much drama to this storyline, and it seems like there’s more to uncover. Gio grew up believing his dad was a soldier who died in Afghanistan and his mom was an opera singer who also sadly passed away. She was a cousin of the Cerullos, at least according to Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), who seems to be keeping a huge secret—even from Brook Lynn.
Lois acts like she knows more than she claims about Brook Lynn and Dante’s baby, whom Brook Lynn gave up for adoption as a teenager. Apparently, Lois arranged a private and family adoption between herself and her cousin. Brook Lynn must have given birth under anesthesia. Brook Lynn has never said anything about holding the baby or even knowing whether it was a boy or a girl, which might have been because of the adoption decision.
Another person not quite in the loop would be Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), who paid for Gio’s schooling. It turns out it’s not because he knows or suspects Gio is his grandson. It’s simply because Sonny is extended family to the Cerullos, and he wanted to help—especially after Gio’s dad died.
Lois has been keeping this secret Gio’s whole life, and not even Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) knows the truth. Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) doesn’t know either. When the truth finally comes out, it will be like a shot heard around the Quartermaine and Corinthos worlds. Lois will have some serious explaining to do, especially to Gio, whose whole life will feel like a lie. Maybe that’s why Lois never told him, but now circumstances will force her to reveal the truth.
Brook Lynn might be upset, as will Sonny, Dante, and Olivia. But no one will be as affected as Gio, for whom this will be a literal life-altering experience. The secret that Brook Lynn had a baby as a teenager with Dante will definitely ruffle feathers.
Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), who Brook Lynn never told, will be upset that Lois didn’t keep him in the loop about his own daughter. Even Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan), Brook Lynn’s new assistant, won’t be happy either. Brook Lynn wants to avoid the type of crisis her child, put up for adoption, will endure.
It won’t be Brook Lynn who initiates the truth coming out, and it won’t be Lois either. There’s an extremely soapy chance that a situation will arise where Gio is injured and requires a blood transfusion—one that only Dante or Brook Lynn can provide.
