‘General Hospital’ Will Esme Return To Port Charles?
As General Hospital writers seem to be getting rid of several fan-favorite characters and bringing others back, many viewers are wondering what will come of Esme Prince. Will she come back to Port Charles any time soon? Here’s what we know.
Fans Want To Know If Esme Will Return To GH
Viewers may remember that Esme Prince (portrayed by Avery Pohl) was last seen during the January 31, 2024 episode. In that episode, she fell overboard on a yacht during an altercation with her ex-boyfriend Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), and his girlfriend, Trina (Tabyana Ali).
Since then, both Esme and Spencer were presumed to be dead. Nicholas Chavez also confirmed he would not be returning to General Hospital. For now, at least.
One GH fan took to Reddit to discuss Esme’s potential return. They posed the question, “Do you think we’ll ever see Esme again?”
In the long-winded post, they pointed out that the General Hospital writers seem to get rid of a lot of the younger actors’ roles while leaving the older individuals in the cast. “Esme is one of several characters whom I’m disappointed has left (some of the others are Spencer, Austin, Finn, Martin, and Taggert),” the person wrote.
The Reddit user pointed out that many of the fans who watch the long-running soap opera are older. Typically, they look forward to the return of the older cast members, like Steve Burton who plays Jason. However, for the longevity of the soap, it might be in the writer’s best interest to start bringing back some of the younger cast members.
Esme Prince seemed to be the number one character the General Hospital fan wanted to see back on the show. So, will Esme return to Port Charles? Other viewers had something to say about this.
General Hospital Fans Suggest Changes For Writers
Of course, in a soap opera, it is always possible the unexpected return of a character may happen. Usually, the actors are written out of the script due to conflicting work assignments or disagreements regarding their contracts. That said, writers are known to listen to viewers.
Many other people seemed to agree with the OP. “Yes! Would love Esme back! The actress is amazing, and she dialed up the conflict,” one fan wrote. Another agreed with the original post, “Getting rid of Esme was dumb.”
One viewer pointed out that even the “older viewers” enjoyed seeing new faces on the soap opera. “I’d be happy if they brought Esme back, even if they gave her a long upward character arc. At least she was interesting.” They added, “And stop making everyd*mnthing about Sonny and Carly.”
The current storyline and what we know about upcoming cast changes point at the writers bringing back old characters though. Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) will be making his return in August. Lulu (Julie Berman) is also reportedly returning to Port Charles.
So, there is a chance Esme will make her return in due time. General Hospital viewers will just have to stay tuned to see.
